Voting – old blog…

I’m not here to persuade you to vote one way or another on any particular issue or for any particular candidate. I am here, though, to persuade you to exercise your right to VOTE!!!

Voting is a priveledge and not that long ago, in the 1970’s, individuals under the age of 21 did not have the right to vote – thankfully, they do now!!!!

In 1971, President Nixon certified the 26th Amendment, lowering the voting age from 21 to 18. He is quoted as saying, “The reason I believe that your generation, the 11 million new voters, will do so much for America at home is that you will infuse into this nation some idealism, some courage, some stamina, some high moral purpose, that this country always needs.”

I think everyone has the potential to make a difference, whether in their own life, in the lives of their friends or family members, in the lives of folks in their community, city, state, or nation.

And, one way to make a difference is by VOTING!!!! Make sure you vote and that your voice is heard and counted!!! This is a crucial time in our government right now, so be sure to express your ideas and ideals by VOTING!!!!

And remember: If you don’t vote, you can’t complain how things turn out.
